Over the past four years, I’ve had the opportunity to work with several organizations from the perspective of leadership development. During this journey, I’ve come to one conclusion: we all have room to level up.
Research shows that only 50% of people know what is expected of them, and only 25% feel genuinely heard and seen. In my opinion, these are the biggest root causes of why working life has more challenges than it should.
Why is progress so slow?
Although leadership is, in principle, simple, few organizations succeed in developing in this area. As a “Humbol seller,” I could say they lack the right tool 😅 – but it’s not that simple.
I’m convinced that developing leadership at the organizational level starts with two things: willingness and execution capability.
And these are exactly what make it challenging.
When progress happens, results show
I’ve had the privilege to work with organizations where leadership has taken significant steps forward. The results have been tangible:
- Sick leave costs have decreased
- Perceived performance has improved
- eNPS scores have skyrocketed
These organizations shared a strong willingness and execution capability. Humbol has been an excellent tool because it has specifically supported execution.
Leadership is like losing weight. Everyone knows how to do it, but results often fail because there’s no genuine desire and ability to put things into practice. I’m convinced that now and in the future, leadership needs clarity and empathy. However, these won’t appear in organizations by wishing—they come through action and by demanding them.
